Call for Applications

The Gjon Mili Residency Program invites artists working in video art, short film, documentary, and experimental practices including VR, immersive art, moving image, expanded cinema, and new media to apply for the 2027 edition. The residency runs from May 1 to May 30, 2027 in Dhërmi, Albania.

Eligibility

Open to international artists of all nationalities. Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply.

Application Fee

A non-refundable application fee of $25 USD is required to submit your application.

Application Requirements

Applicants are invited to submit the following materials:

1. Artist Bio

Short biography (max. 150 words)

2. Artist Statement

Brief description of the artistic practice and research interests.

3. Portfolio / CV

PDF portfolio including previous works, exhibitions, screenings, festivals, or projects.

4. Project Proposal

A short description of the project or idea the artist would like to develop during the residency, preferably connected to moving image, landscape, architecture, memory, public space, or experimental media practices.

5. Work Samples

Up to 3 video works or film excerpts. Please include Vimeo/YouTube links and passwords if needed.

6. Technical Requirements

Short list of technical needs for the project (projector, sound, VR, installation setup, etc.)

7. Website or Social Media (optional)

Instagram, website, Vimeo, or other relevant links.

8. Availability Confirmation

Confirmation that the artist is available during the residency and festival dates.

Particularly encouraged are projects connected to site-specific approaches, experimental storytelling, landscape, memory, and contemporary visual culture within the context of the Gjon Mili International Video Art Festival.
